Tenukupara Village Anchorage (Ahe)

14° 32.2′ S · 146° 21.4′ W

A U-shaped pocket behind exposed reef off Ahe's only village, almost fully protected by reef to the N and W and by the motu from NE to S, five miles down a marked channel from the pass.

Practical

Position 14°32.193'S 146°21.437'W, about 50 m off the pier in 10 m: very protected and good holding, but nasty bommies all around and no room for more than about 40 m of chain (Elvira, Oct 2023). Jacaranda (2016): 14°32.202'S 146°21.423'W, clear sand in 30 ft, 100 ft of chain floated on 3 buoys; turn point between the entrance marks 14°32.271'S 146°21.504'W; give the red (port) mark plenty of room because it does not sit on the reef edge. Sea-seek suggests 12 m about 100 m north of the end of the quay for quiet. Keep clear of the wharf: two supply ships came in (one at night) during Jacaranda's stay and boats too close have been asked to move. Only enter in good visibility. Recycling bins at the jetty; no general garbage drop (2023).
