Tenukupara Village Walk (Ahe)
14° 32.3′ S · 146° 21.4′ W
A short, friendly loop from the quay through Tenukupara's lanes, past the churches, school, magasins and snacks, with the ocean-side road beyond.
Practical
Start position is the OpenStreetMap quay at Tenukupara (easy dinghy tie-up, Consensus 2017). 'Cute little walk around the village, very small store, post office with free half hour of wifi, and friendly locals' (Consensus, July 2017). Landmarks on OpenStreetMap: Adventist, Protestant, Mormon and Orthodox churches, the school, Magasin Suzanne, Magasin Arii and Magasin Lucie, Snack Keoki and Snack Kiri Burger. The 2024 atoll sheet lists concrete roads in front of the mairie, infirmary and Air Tahiti office and about 2 km of ocean-side road still to be concreted. A white house on the water with red trim was a pearl shop (2017). Villagers fish, chat and play music on the lit quay late into the night (sea-seek).
