Tahanea Northeast Anchorage

16° 53.1′ S · 144° 34.9′ W

A little-visited anchorage in the NE corner of the lagoon, well beyond the passes, off long walking motus.

Practical

Position from Mary Anne II (Oct 2017), who visited and anchored in the NE corner. Depth and bottom were not given; elsewhere on the trip they used a couple of floats in 3 m. Shelter is from the NE-E rim; open to the W and S across the lagoon. Reach it by following the inside of the north rim east past Otao pass, or cut across with the sun high. Float your chain with fenders or pearl floats.

Best for

Solitude far from the pass crowd
