Tahanea Lagoon Pinnacle Snorkel (TAHA6)
16° 52.1′ S · 144° 37.8′ W
A mid-lagoon day stop by a pinnacle rising from about 40 ft to 5 ft, swarming with fish; reviews are mixed on the coral.
Practical
Soggy Paws (2010) TAHA6: day anchorage in 25 ft with some heads; the pinnacle is an easy dinghy or swim from the anchor spot. They rated it 'the best snorkeling INSIDE the lagoon'. Villa Veritas (June 2022) thought it not worth the stop: some bigger fish, but the coral mostly dead, and you definitely need to float your chain. Other Soggy Paws marks: T17 (16°52.5911'S 144°36.0481'W) snorkeling, and T16 (16°54.4110'S 144°34.4916'W) 'nice heads'. Use as a lunch stop on the run to the SE corner in good light.
Best for
A lunch stop en route to the SE corner
