Tahanea East Rim Landing Beach

16° 53.7′ S · 144° 34.6′ W · approximate

A small landing beach on Tahanea's long eastern motu chain. The motus stretch for miles, with lagoon and ocean shores to walk and atoll fruit doves in the palms.

Practical

Coordinate approximate: it is Narama's anchorage position (June 2011, 16°53.725'S 144°34.596'W), with 'a small landing beach nearby'. Narama: 'the snorkeling was good... the motu stretches for miles and is great for walking on both sides', with many birds nesting on all the eastern motus, including the atoll fruit dove. Wear reef shoes for the ocean side, which is jagged broken coral (Mary Anne II 2017). Land only in good light and settled E-SE trades. Bird rules apply: no dogs, fires or kites, and keep off nesting areas.
