Tahanea Sandy Beach Anchorage
16° 57.8′ S · 144° 35.2′ W
A 5 m sand anchorage in the far SE corner, right in front of what one crew called the prettiest sandy beach in the atoll.
Practical
Position from Sugar Shack (2020): 5 m of sandy water with 'not nearly as many bommies in this area'. Same shelter as the SE corner (ENE through S to SSW). The beach and motus here host ground-nesting seabirds: land below the high-water line, keep away from nests and fledglings, and no dogs, fires or kites. Snorkel the cuts between the motus at slack (Villa Veritas 2022).
