Amanu Abandoned North Village
17° 42.7′ S · 140° 39.7′ W · approximate
An abandoned settlement on Amanu's northern rim, now visited by weekend copra and fishing families. You can anchor off it in sand among easy-to-see bommies.
Practical
Duplicat (June 2017) stopped off the abandoned village at 17°42.819S / 140°39.760W, with good holding and bommies that are fairly easy to avoid, and notes many secure sand anchorages along the northern edge. Grace of Longstone (2021) met friendly locals at a couple of properties on weekends. Ask before entering any structure or copra plot. Position approximate: on the rim just north of Duplicat's anchoring waypoint.
