Amanu Lagoon Kitesurfing

17° 51.9′ S · 140° 46.7′ W · approximate

Amanu's compact, steady-wind lagoon draws kiters to the SE shore and the Star reef, with flat water inside the reefs and no other traffic.

Practical

Grace of Longstone (Jan 2021) moved 2-3 miles north of the South and Southeast Anchorage to kite, and rates the Star anchorage a good kite-surfing spot; the compendium's SE-anchorage notes also mention kiting nearby. Launch from a sand spit or the boat, watch for bommies and pearl floats, and keep upwind of the coral. Position approximate: about 1 nm N of the SE anchorage waypoint, in the area Grace of Longstone describes.
