Ikitake Motu Walk (Amanu)
17° 51.5′ S · 140° 50.8′ W · approximate
A shallow-water walk from the motus south of the village into Ikitake, wading calf-deep channels between islets or following the beach or road.
Practical
Sugar Shack (Dec 2020): from the anchorage south of the pass, take the dinghy through small gaps in the reef to the large motu south of the village. Wade to the small diamond-shaped motu, then wade again to the village motu, and walk the road or beach to town, about 1-1.5 miles each way. The channels are usually no deeper than mid-calf. Luci Para 2 landed by kayak on the big sand pile at the south end of the village motu; it is a 15-minute walk from there, but it is very shallow at low tide. Reef shoes recommended. Position approximate: the landing area just inland of the Point Koutu Korigo anchorage.
Best for
A dry-ish route to town when the dinghy ride is wet
