Practical

Mairie and clinic hours (Dec 2020): Mon, Tue, Thu and Fri 7:30am-11:30am and 1:30pm-3:30pm; Wed 7:30am-11:30am. Facing the entrance, the mairie is on the left, 2nd floor, and the clinic on the right, 2nd floor. Report on arrival with passports and boat papers: in 2020 a patrol boat from Hao asked boats to check in at the town hall. Free wifi at the mairie on weekdays from about 3:30pm or 4pm until 7am-8am, and all weekend. Otherwise only 2G, which some crews reach by hoisting a Vini box up the mast. The post office (OPT, +689 40 96 91 02) is near the pass and church, open Mon-Fri 7:30am-9:30am (2020). The village is very welcoming: crews report lunches hosted by the mayor, spearfishing and lobster trips with locals, and farewell dinners. Position approximate: placed in Ikitake village between Passe Fafameru and the Point Koutu Korigo anchorage, derived from the compendium's descriptions; the exact building was not located on a map. The 2019 commune profile names the maire délégué as François Terokehau Takamoana (since 2014) and lists the survival shelter building as housing the mairie (224 m²) and the health post (135 m²), which fits the two-storey building cruisers describe. Health post contact (2019): +689 40 97 03 08. There is no direct mairie phone in the sources, so call the health post or the Hao mairie.
