Turks & Caicos Border Force clearance & SailClear

21° 44.4′ N · 72° 16.8′ W · approximate

Every yacht must file an electronic SailClear notice at least 24 hours before arriving in or leaving TCI waters, then clear face-to-face at a designated port of entry.

Practical

Pinned at South Dock, Provo (the main port); applies countrywide. Ports of entry (Border Force, page modified March 2024): Grand Turk – South Dock; Providenciales – Blue Haven Marina, South Bank Marina, South Dock, Southside Marina, Sapodilla Bay; South Caicos – Cockburn Harbour. Fly the Q flag and go directly to a port of entry; nobody, no animal and nothing may leave the boat until cleared, and you may have to stay aboard overnight if you arrive late. SailClear needs vessel name, registration, first port, ETA, intended departure, and crew passport details plus any animals, firearms or dutiable goods. Fees: inbound US$50, outbound US$50, plus overtime outside working hours. Departure also needs SailClear and clearance; to extend, update SailClear and apply to Border Force before your leave expires. Failing to report risks detention or forfeiture of the boat. Cruiser reports: some officers don't recognise SailClear (Grand Turk 2023) — bring printed copies (noforeignland). Firearms: contact the Royal TCI Police before arrival. Pets need a vet certificate, import application and fee.
