Sapodilla Bay Hill Rock Carvings

21° 44.5′ N · 72° 16.9′ W

A five-minute scramble up 50-ft Sapodilla Hill above the anchorage, where sailors waiting for ships carved names, dates and little ships into the limestone from the mid-1700s into the 1800s.

Practical

Free, always open, no staff or restrooms. Theft, vandalism and a 2010 preservation removal mean little remains on site; replicas of the best stones are displayed near international departures at Providenciales airport. The real reward is the 360° view over Chalk Sound, the bay and South Dock. Trailhead and parking share the south Sapodilla Beach access off Chalk Sound Drive.
