Treasure Beach

17° 52.6′ N · 77° 45.4′ W

Five laid-back coves on the St. Elizabeth coast - Fort Charles, Billy's Bay, Frenchman's Bay, Calabash Bay and Great Pedro Bay - known as the home of Jamaican community tourism: no all-inclusives, public beaches, fishing canoes on the sand and small guesthouses.

Practical

Position from Wikipedia (Treasure Beach). Anchor in Great Pedro Bay at the east end (see Great Pedro Bay Anchorage: 15 ft, good holding but it can roll; fishermen's co-op ashore) and land on the beach. Eat at Jack Sprat (17.88054N, 077.76422W) or Jakes (17.87953N, 077.76342W) on Fort Charles Road in Calabash Bay (OpenStreetMap); basic groceries at Great Bay Supermarket on Great Bay Road (17.86432N, 077.73845W, OSM). Hurricane Beryl hit on July 3, 2024 (Wikipedia), and OSM tags local buildings with Hurricane Melissa damage assessments (October 31, 2025) - check what has reopened. Roads to Black River and Santa Cruz can wash out in heavy rain.
