Sardinera Anchorage (Isla de Mona)
18° 4.8′ N · 67° 56.5′ W · approximate
A tiny reef-enclosed pool off Playa Sardinera on Mona's west side, the island's only small-boat harbor.
Practical
Position approx: inside the reef off Playa Sardinera, derived from OpenStreetMap (checked to be in water); the Virgintino PR guide's waypoint 18°06.76N 67°58.27W lies about 2 nm NW of the entrance. Entrance marked by triangular markers/stakes, less than 100 ft wide, about 6.5 ft deep and less with wave action. Little room to turn if other boats are inside. In a northerly blow the entrance is dangerous. The guide says Mona should NOT be considered a stop between Hispaniola and Puerto Rico, especially November through March. Treat it as a day anchorage in very settled weather, and only with DRNA's blessing.
Best for
Experienced crews in flat calm only
Season
