Las Galeras Divers
19° 17.5′ N · 69° 11.9′ W
The established dive shop in Las Galeras, running boats to the reefs, caves and walls around Cabo Cabrón and Cabo Samaná at the tip of the peninsula.
Practical
Coordinates from the Wikivoyage listing (Plaza Lusitania, Las Galeras; listing updated Sep 2015). Wikivoyage names the area's dive sites: around Cabo Cabrón, Puerto Malo, Tibisi I and II, La Laguna, Piedra Bonita, Cueva de Chopa and La Herradura; around Las Galeras, Barco Hundido, Coral Garden and Playita; around Cabo Samaná, Piedra Solitaria, Los Hoyones, Frontón and Los Carriles I and II. The north-facing sites need calm seas: in winter northers they are often blown out. Whale-watching runs mid-January to the end of March. Only one ATM in town, and many foreign cards are refused, so bring pesos.
