Holandes Inner Reefs Snorkel (Nap Garden & BBQ Island bommies)
9° 35.0′ N · 78° 41.4′ W · approximate
Sheltered coral gardens inside the East Holandes lagoon: the big reef due south of the Hot Tub (Nap Garden), bommies off BBQ Island's north end, and the channels toward the outer reef, with eagle rays, nurse sharks and parrotfish.
Practical
Coordinate approximate: just south of the Hot Tub waypoint (09°35.067'N 078°41.504'W), where Spirit of Argo describes the 'big reef due south of the anchorage'. Whale bones lie off the reef at Nap Garden and on Ogoppiriadup's beach. Also good: bommies off the north end of BBQ Island (Balvenie 2012) and the reef channel leading to the Swimming Pool (Spirit of Argo). Swim into the current first so you can drift back. Reefs near inhabited islands have been heavily fished; the Holandes have the best reef health in the western comarca.
Best for
Easy sheltered snorkelling straight from the anchorages
