El Castillo Anchorage (La Isabela)

An open roadstead off Hotel Rancho del Sol, a few miles west of Luperón, where you can land to see the ruins of La Isabela, the settlement Columbus founded on his second voyage.
Practical
Waypoint from the Virgintino DR guide (~2015). Watch the reef just north of the anchorage. Acceptable in prevailing trades; uncomfortable in NE wind or ahead of a cold front. The Navy may come out: show your despacho to your next port and explain you stopped to see the ruins. The hotel restaurant was recommended by the guide (verify it is still open).
