El Cantil Wall (Tintipán Outer Reef)

9° 48.3′ N · 75° 49.3′ W

San Bernardo's big-animal dive: an underwater cliff on the outer reef off Tintipán that falls from about 12 m to beyond 30 m, hung with black coral, gorgonians and giant sponges, with barracuda, jacks and passing turtles off the edge.

Practical

Position from the PADI dive-site listing (9.80500, -75.82222), about 0.5 km off Tintipán's eastern tip (outside the OSM island outline). PADI: wall from 12 m to over 30 m, boat entry, recommended for Advanced Open Water and deep divers. The site is just north of the recommended approach between Isla Mangle and Tintipán (see San Bernardo Approach passage) - yachts should not anchor here; go with a dive boat from Tolú or Rincón del Mar, or from the Tintipán South anchorage by tender only in flat calm. Bring cash: there are no ATMs in the archipelago (Tom Plan My Trip). Park rules: don't touch, stand on or anchor on coral; no collecting; dive only with an operator licensed for the park (Parques Nacionales).
