Royal Island Harbour Anchorage
25° 30.9′ N · 76° 50.6′ W
A nearly landlocked harbour in private Royal Island, 5 nm west of Spanish Wells — one of the best all-round foul-weather anchorages in north Eleuthera and a natural staging point for Abaco or Current Cut.
Practical
7-10 ft; silty sand in the east end, grass over sand in the west end. Holding is mixed: some boats set first time, others needed several tries and extra scope (2022, 2024 reviews); use generous chain. All-round protection, though strong S winds (20+ kn) push a noticeable swell in. Narrow entrance with lights — in March 2025 only the red flasher worked, so enter by daylight. The island is private with caretakers only; a dock at the west end has been used to go ashore but recent reviewers found docks private. No facilities or services. Room for roughly a dozen boats.
Best for
Riding out a cold front close to Spanish Wells
Season
Year-round refuge; least comfortable in strong S
