Egg Island reef and wreck snorkel

25° 29.7′ N · 76° 53.2′ W · approximate

Fish-rich reef right off the Egg Island anchorage — groupers, barracuda, parrotfish and lobsters within swimming distance — plus the Arimoroa wreck off the island about 1.5 miles by dinghy.

Practical

Coordinate approx: set on the reef just off the Egg Island anchorage (noforeignland position 25.4942, -76.8860). Anchor on the 9-ft contour in sand; deeper and you are on the reef with chain scraping. Coral is modest but fish life is abundant. Exact wreck position not published in the sources opened — ask in Spanish Wells or use your chart. Egg Island is a nursery for turtles, juvenile snapper and grouper, crawfish and conch, and residents successfully fought off a cruise-port plan; treat it gently.
