Pittstown historic post office site
22° 49.9′ N · 74° 20.9′ W
Pittstown Point is the site of the first post office in the Bahamas, established in the late 1700s when Crooked Island's Loyalist cotton plantations were at their height; remnants of the building are incorporated into the main lodge of Crooked Island Lodge beside the marina.
Practical
Position is the lodge building (Bahamas tourism board listing). No museum, signage or opening hours noted; see it on a visit to the lodge restaurant and library. One travel guide notes the original Pitts Town post office itself is long gone. The modern Crooked Island post office is in the administrative office at Colonel Hill, across from St. Michael Anglican Church.
