Pittstown Point beach and reef snorkel
22° 49.9′ N · 74° 21.0′ W · approximate
A white-sand beach on Crooked Island's north-west tip where the reef starts a few steps from the sand, in clear water facing the Crooked Island Passage; the lodge rates it among the best snorkelling in the region.
Practical
Position approximate: the beach immediately west of the lodge building (Bahamas tourism board lodge position, offset to the shore). Snorkel straight off the beach in settled E-SE weather; avoid in northerly swell. Land the dinghy on the beach (the shoreline from Landrail Point around the north point to Gun Bluff is private property, so stay off yards and land near the lodge). Watch boat traffic near the marina channel.
Best for
Easy beach-entry snorkelling from the marina or Landrail Point anchorage
Season
Nov–May in E–SE trades; avoid in northerly swell
