McQueens Beach Anchorage
24° 10.8′ N · 75° 28.8′ W
An anchorage on the south-west shore of the Bight near McQueens, with a nice snorkel reef nearby but a reputation for surge.
Practical
Head east from the convergent mark at Hawks Nest Point, avoiding the areas of small coral. The bottom is thin: in 2019 an anchor hooked a small ledge rather than sand, so set an anchor alarm. Protected from the south only, and the surge marked on charts at the point wraps in. Two of three reviews found it too rolly, and one boat gave up at midnight and moved to New Bight (2023). Nothing within about 3 miles. Good BTC signal.
Best for
An emergency stop arriving late from Long Island or Conception
