Old Bight Anchorage (Rollezzz Beach)
24° 13.6′ N · 75° 23.8′ W
A long white beach in the south-east corner of the Bight, off the Bahamian-owned Rollezzz Beach Resort. It has the top community rating on Cat Island and is the calmest spot in strong E to SE trades.
Practical
Approach from the W, NW or SW; look for the manicured beach and colourful villas. The bottom shoals very gradually, so tuck in as close as you dare: 6.4 ft about 200 ft off. Sand with excellent holding. Boats sat flat here in 25-30 kt ENE-ESE while New Bight was too rough to land (2015). Exposed to anything westerly. Land the dinghy anywhere on the beach. For a gas station and limited groceries, take the dinghy 300 yd north to where the road ends and walk 1/2 mile. A grocery and straw market sits another 1/2 mile south on the main road opposite the Pass Me Not bar, with Saturday rake 'n' scrape at the southern bar (2015).
