Father Jerome's Cave
24° 17.7′ N · 75° 24.5′ W · approximate
The cave beneath the Hermitage where John Hawes, Father Jerome, asked to be buried after his death in 1956. It is a quiet, moving stop on the way down Mount Alvernia.
Practical
Coordinate is the Hermitage summit (Wikipedia); the cave is below the hermitage. Look for the side path to the cave as you take the longer way back down (2017 cruiser tip). Wikipedia notes Hawes died in Miami on June 26, 1956 and was buried, at his own request, in a cave beneath the hermitage. Treat it as a grave site.
