New Bight fish fry
24° 17.6′ N · 75° 25.2′ W
A row of six to eight colourful beach shacks at New Bight serving cracked conch, grilled lobster, conch salad and mango daiquiris, with impromptu rake 'n' scrape at night. It is the social heart of Cat Island for cruisers.
Practical
Steps from the anchorage beach. Shacks cruisers have named over the years include Hidden Treasures (Denise and Trevor; grilled lobster and mango daiquiris, praised 2015-2019, though one 2018 review found it pricey), Annieboo's, Sunshine, Duke's, and Caddy's conch salad. Food is cooked to order, so expect a wait. The Blue Bird, south of the police station, was reported cheaper with big portions (2018). Many shacks open evenings and weekends; ask around. Bands such as Bo Hog and the Rooters have played here. Nights can be noisy at the anchorage when venues are busy.
Best for
Seafood, cold drinks and live music on the beach
