Hawk's Nest wall dive

24° 9.2′ N · 75° 32.1′ W · approximate

The drop-off off Cat Island's south-west tip, which the Hawk's Nest resort says lies about 100 yards from its moored boats and falls away past 800 ft. Divers describe tunnels through the reef that exit onto the wall at about 90 ft.

Practical

Coordinate is the ActiveCaptain 'Hawks Nest Slue' marker off Hawks Nest Point, a representative point at the edge of the bank; there is no surveyed dive-site position. A 2004 Undercurrent report from the resort's dive operation described wall dives and tunnels exiting at about 90 ft, 80-100 ft visibility, schools of spadefish, parrotfish and jacks, and some algae on the shallow reefs. The German Wikivoyage lists a PADI operator, Dive Cat Island, at Hawk's Nest Marina; confirm it is operating before you plan on air fills. Several white buoys, probably fish traps, were reported nearby in April 2026. Dive from your own boat only with a dinghy pickup and in light winds: the bank edge here takes swell and current.
