Man of War Bay reef diving (Great Inagua)

21° 5.1′ N · 73° 39.3′ W · approximate

The reefs and coral heads that ring Man of War Bay north of the Morton salt pier offer clear-water snorkelling and diving with plenty of sharks, in the island's best shelter from NE-E trades.

Practical

Approximate coordinate placed between the ActiveCaptain Man of War Bay North (21.08215N 73.64542W) and Man of War night-entry (21.09009N 73.65226W) anchorages, toward the reef edge - not a named or buoyed site. A French crew (ActiveCaptain, Apr 2024) reported 'belles plongees, requins en quantite' (fine dives, sharks in numbers); Noonsite (2012) called the bay great for snorkelling. Coral heads are scattered - a Dec 2018 review wrapped its rode on one. No dive operator or chamber on Inagua: self-sufficient divers only, and avoid spearfishing in shark-rich water. Exposed to anything with W or N in it.

Best for
