Morton Salt works (Inagua)
20° 58.0′ N · 73° 38.0′ W · approximate
Morton Salt's solar salt operation - a patchwork of evaporation ponds and white salt mountains - covers much of western Great Inagua and produces about a million tonnes of sea salt a year.
Practical
Coordinate is the GeoNames point for Saltpond Hill among the salt ponds east of Matthew Town; there is no public visitor centre. Pumping stations push seawater into the ponds south of the lighthouse.
Best for
Seeing the salt mountains on the way to the park
