Gordon's Beach Anchorage
22° 51.4′ N · 74° 51.9′ W
An exposed but beautiful lee anchorage off the very long, empty beach at Long Island's southern tip, with the island's coolest beach bar ashore.
Practical
ActiveCaptain: easy approach from anywhere to the west; head in until you are comfortable with the depth (a 6-ft draft had no problems). Good holding; expect some roll. In SE winds the swell curls round the south point and reviewers rated it among their worst nights; in strong east to south-east weather, go round to Clarence Town or Little Harbour instead. No dock; the beach is very long and flat, so you may have to anchor the dinghy off. A good passage stop between Clarence Town and the Jumentos or Crooked Island.
Best for
A passage stop and lunch at Gordon's Beach Bar
Season
Settled NE–E winds; rolly in SE, open W
