French Wells anchorage snorkel
22° 41.1′ N · 74° 16.6′ W · approximate
The mixed sand-and-coral bottom around the French Wells anchorage, at the mouth of the channel between Crooked Island and Long Cay, is good for an easy snorkel from the boat between dinghy trips up the mangrove creek.
Practical
Position approximate (just west of the French Wells anchorage position already in this file). Tidal current runs through the French Wells channel, so snorkel near slack water and keep a dinghy with you. noforeignland lists snorkelling and fishing at this anchorage; read coral heads in good light before anchoring. Beside the old freshwater well ashore, boaters have left carved rocks.
