Devil's Claw (San Salvador)

24° 0.9′ N · 74° 32.1′ W · approximate

Three talon-like crevices slice a double-drop wall off Long Bay (45 to 80 ft, then to 150 ft), with a free-standing coral head offshore.

Practical

Position is approximate: Sail Abacos listing position, in water off Long Bay. San Salvador's wall sites carry dive-operator moorings - Noonsite says to use one of the 50-plus mooring buoys rather than anchor when diving on your own. Most sites are on the lee (west and south) side, 10-20 minutes by boat from Riding Rock Marina, with the reef starting around 40 ft (Riding Rock). Remote island: dive conservatively. 15 minutes from Riding Rock; stingrays and sharks frequent (Bahamas tourism).
