Dive· San Salvador· Bahamas — Eleuthera, Andros & the Out Islands
Great Cut (San Salvador)
24° 0.0′ N · 74° 32.8′ W · approximate
A ridge split from the main wall with a keyhole tunnel through it, entered at 85-95 ft among hanging rope sponges.
Practical
Position is approximate: placed on the west-coast wall south of Long Bay from '20-25 minutes south of Riding Rock Marina' (Sail Abacos); the Sail Abacos coordinate falls on land. San Salvador's wall sites carry dive-operator moorings - Noonsite says to use one of the 50-plus mooring buoys rather than anchor when diving on your own. Most sites are on the lee (west and south) side, 10-20 minutes by boat from Riding Rock Marina, with the reef starting around 40 ft (Riding Rock). Remote island: dive conservatively. Deep profile (tunnel floor 110-150 ft): first dive of the day, advanced divers only.
Best for
Advanced, deep tunnel dive
