Hole in the Wall (San Salvador)

24° 1.5′ N · 74° 32.0′ W · approximate

A 100-ft-wide bite into the reef off Long Bay settlement, beside one of the island's largest gorgonians and a pillar coral at 50 ft.

Practical

Position is approximate: placed about 900 m off Long Bay (the Sail Abacos position lies 2 km out, beyond the wall). San Salvador's wall sites carry dive-operator moorings - Noonsite says to use one of the 50-plus mooring buoys rather than anchor when diving on your own. Most sites are on the lee (west and south) side, 10-20 minutes by boat from Riding Rock Marina, with the reef starting around 40 ft (Riding Rock). Remote island: dive conservatively. Bottom of the indentation 90-120 ft.
