Tilloo Cut South Anchorage (Tavern Cay north)

26° 29.1′ N · 76° 59.5′ W

A quiet sand-patch anchorage just inside Tilloo Cut and north of Tavern Cay, tucked along the small cays off Tilloo's north end - a short dinghy hop to Tahiti Beach and Lubbers Quarters but with far less traffic than the Hope Town side.

Practical

Depth about 6.5-8 ft MLW (reports of 6.5 ft and 7.4-7.6 ft MLW); sand with grass patches - hunt for a sand hole and back down hard. Good protection E and S; open SW-W. Some current from Tilloo Cut but not much. Approach from the west or south unless very shallow draft. A heavy cable runs roughly N-S near the marked position - check your chain is not across it. Daytime wakes from center consoles running between Lubbers and Tahiti Beach; quiet at night. About 3/4 mile dinghy to Cracker P's on Lubbers Quarters. ActiveCaptain community reports date from 2011-2019, before Hurricane Dorian (Category 5, Sept 1, 2019) hit Abaco; re-check bottom, markers and businesses locally.

Best for

Easterly-wind overnight close to Tahiti Beach without the Hope Town crowd

Season
