Tahiti Beach Anchorage

26° 30.0′ N · 76° 59.5′ W

The classic beach anchorage of central Abaco: sandy patches between the grass west of Tahiti Beach, with Lubbers Quarters across the channel and Cracker P's a short dinghy ride away.

Practical

Coordinate is the anchorage charted on OpenSeaMap (OpenStreetMap seamark). Calm with good holding, but moderate day traffic (noforeignland). Look for sand between the sea grass (Southern Boating); catamarans tuck in close to the beach. The deepest water between Elbow Cay and Lubbers Quarters is narrow but passable for most cruising boats; read the water with good light. A charted shoal lies to the southeast toward Tilloo Cut. Exposed to the west and northwest; move to Hope Town or Marsh Harbour before a winter front.
