Soldier Cay Anchorage

25° 40.0′ N · 77° 45.5′ W

A roomy, crystal-clear anchorage on the west side of Soldier Cay beside Market Fish Cay, with a landing beach and a hundred-yard walk to the rocky ocean side; the usual first stop in the middle Berries.

Practical

ActiveCaptain position. Easy entrance from the Market Fish Cay waypoint. Charts show shoaler water near the island, but reviewers find at least 8 ft at low tide much closer in: go slowly and watch the sounder. Good sand holding; good protection in all east-quadrant winds; some roll at times. 27 reviews, average 4.3. Sharks reported (Noforeignland). BTC and Aliv signal from the Great Harbour tower (4 bars Aliv, March 2021). Hoffman's Cay and the blue hole are about 2 miles south by dinghy via the charted route; boats over 4 ft draft heading south find it easier to go outside. No services.

Best for

First anchorage in the middle Berries; east-wind shelter

Season
