Market Fish Cay Anchorage

25° 40.5′ N · 77° 45.7′ W · approximate

The lee of Market Fish Cay, the long, thin cay just north of Soldier Cay, where boats coming in from the north tuck in over sand on the bank side; a quieter alternative to the busier Soldier Cay spot a half mile south.

Practical

Position approximate: placed about 150 m (500 ft) west of the middle of Market Fish Cay, whose OpenStreetMap outline runs about 0.4 nm NNW-SSE between 25.6720 N and 25.6782 N; no surveyed anchorage marker exists for the cay itself, so pick your spot by eye and sounder. Cruiser forum advice is to come in by Market Fish Cay and tuck in behind the cay, ideally on a rising tide so a grounding floats off. Exposed to the west and to swell wrapping around in strong north winds. No services; nearest fuel, water and customs are at Great Harbour Cay Marina, about 6 nm north-northwest.

Best for

A quiet east-wind anchorage on the way into the middle Berries

Season

Good in NE-SE winds; exposed west and in north swell
