Hoffman's Cay Blue Hole

25° 37.3′ N · 77° 44.4′ W · approximate

A near-circular blue hole about 600 ft across sunk inside Hoffman's Cay, its surface 20-30 ft below a limestone rim that cruisers jump from into bottomless blue water. The biggest blue hole in the Berry Islands and the signature stop of the chain.

Practical

The trail is about five minutes through scrub (Chub Cay tour description). The drop to the water is about 20 ft; there is an easy climb-out. Dinghy over from the Hoffman's, Little Gaulding, Fowl Cay or White Cay anchorages, about 10 minutes across the bank from the White Cay side. Day-tour boats from Chub Cay and Great Harbour visit, so come early or late. Bring a mask: the hole is deep and dark below the ledges.
