Hoffman's Cay Anchorage

25° 37.3′ N · 77° 44.5′ W

The favourite anchorage of the middle Berries: a pretty bay with a beach, turtles in the shallows, and a five-minute jungle path to the Hoffman's Cay blue hole.

Practical

ActiveCaptain position ('Hoffman's Cay - 2', 19 reviews, average 4.7). Approach from the northwest: the charted route along the west side of the islands has more water than charted and is very doable at high tide; keep as close to shore as your draft allows (see the Hoffman Route passage). Shoal-draft boats can come in via White Cay cut near high tide (tides close to Nassau). A 46 ft catamaran (just under 4 ft draft) came in at mid-tide south of White Cay and anchored in great holding; it rode out 25+ kt gusts from the east for two days (November 2023). Beach landing only. Sharks seen at dusk. Noforeignland users rate it 5/5 for protection from the prevailing wind. Uncomfortable in westerlies.

Best for

The blue hole, beaches and turtles in prevailing easterlies
