Snorkel· Moraine Cay· Bahamas — North
Moraine Cay ocean reef (coral canyons)
27° 2.7′ N · 77° 46.1′ W · approximate
On the ocean side of the sandy coral spit beside Moraine Cay, coral canyons run out perpendicular to the island in what a 2026 visitor called spectacular, unspoiled reef.
Practical
Approximate pin on the ocean side just north of Moraine Cay, derived from the ActiveCaptain anchorage position and the review's description; not surveyed. ActiveCaptain (January 2026): on the lightest-wind day, take the dinghy near low tide to the sandy coral spit next to Moraine Cay, walk round to its ocean side and swim in; pick a canyon for deeper water and drift through the coral garden. Only in winds under about 10 knots with no ocean swell; the Moraine anchorage itself is no place to be in significant weather.
Best for
The best reef snorkel in the far north
Season
Calm days only; untenable in any north or east swell
