Cormorant Cay Anchorage (Snake Cay north)
26° 27.6′ N · 77° 3.1′ W
A pretty, little-visited cove about half a mile north of Snake Cay on Great Abaco's east shore, with bright green, crystal-clear water and a mangrove cut to explore by dinghy or kayak.
Practical
Room for 3-4 boats in 6-8 ft. Protected SW through NE. Holding is disputed: the listing says sand and grass, but two reviewers who snorkeled it found thin sand over rock - light-wind stop only unless you find deeper sand (reported a little offshore, directly S of the point). Straightforward approach from any direction. Rays, turtles and small sharks reported. Dinghy through the cut only at high tide; the bigger creek system is entered through the Snake Cay cut 1/2 mile south. ActiveCaptain community reports date from 2011-2019, before Hurricane Dorian (Category 5, Sept 1, 2019) hit Abaco; re-check bottom, markers and businesses locally.
Best for
Quiet light-air anchorage for dinghy and kayak exploring
