Warderick Wells Blowholes & Exuma Sound Trail
24° 24.3′ N · 76° 37.6′ W · approximate
Push past Boo Boo Hill and the trail drops onto the wild Atlantic side, a shelf of black ironshore riddled with blowholes that boom and fire spray twenty feet into the air when a swell rolls in. Utterly different in character from the placid bank side.
Practical
Best on a rising tide with swell running in the Sound - dead calm days are a let-down. Stand well back and never over a hole; the ironshore is razor-sharp and undercut, and the shelf is slick when wet. Do not attempt in big surge. Add 30-45 min to the Boo Boo Hill walk. Full trail network maps are free at the park office.
