Sperm Whale Skeleton, Warderick Wells
24° 23.7′ N · 76° 38.0′ W · approximate
A fifty-two-foot sperm whale, laid out bone by bone on the sand beside the park office. It died after swallowing a plastic bag, and the rangers reassembled it as a monument - the most quietly powerful thing you will see in the Exumas.
Practical
Free and always accessible; a two-minute walk from the HQ dinghy dock. Best light early morning or late afternoon. It sits at the start of the trail network, so it makes a natural first stop before heading up to Boo Boo Hill. Do not climb on or move the bones.
Best for
The one photo that isn't of turquoise water
