Boo Boo Hill
24° 24.2′ N · 76° 37.7′ W · approximate
The highest point in the park, crowned with a driftwood cairn of hand-carved boat name boards left by decades of cruisers, with deep-blue Exuma Sound on one side and the shallow bank on the other. Legend says a wrecked ship's souls are buried beneath and sing in the wind on moonlit nights.
Practical
About a mile each way from the HQ dock, roughly 45-60 minutes round trip. The trail crosses the nearly dry tidal Banshee Creek - go at low or mid tide or you'll wade. Sharp, hole-riddled weathered limestone the whole way: sturdy closed shoes are essential, and carry water. Tradition is to bring a piece of driftwood with your boat's name on it; make it from your own wood, since collecting anything in the park is prohibited. Continue past the summit for the Exuma Sound-side blowholes, which thump and spout on a rising swell.
