Petit Canouan Wildlife Reserve
12° 47.5′ N · 61° 16.8′ W
A small, round, uninhabited islet about 7 to 8 km NE of Canouan, protected since 1987 and recognised by BirdLife International as an Important Bird Area for its tens of thousands of nesting seabirds.
Practical
Frigatebirds, brown boobies, laughing gulls and sooty, roseate and royal terns nest here; egg poaching and fires have degraded the island. Observe from the boat; landing would disturb nesting birds, especially during the spring nesting season. There is a light on the islet. No anchorage information was found and the islet lies exposed in open water.
Best for
Seabird watching from the boat on passage
