Canouan Windward Reef and Godahl Beach
12° 42.8′ N · 61° 19.2′ W · approximate
Grand Cois is the long barrier reef running down Canouan's windward coast from Point de Jour to Barbruce Bay, enclosing a turquoise lagoon and white beaches such as Godahl, Mysore and Carenage bays.
Practical
Coordinate is derived: the centre of Godahl Bay as mapped in OpenStreetMap. Yachts may not anchor behind the reef, so this is a land excursion: walk or taxi over the hill from Charlestown (Doyle recommends walking up the hill to the east to see the lagoon). Several of these beaches sit beside the private Mandarin Oriental/Pink Sands estate in the north, where access needs permission; Riley Bay and Windward Bay further south are public. Snorkel only inside the reef in calm conditions; the outer reef takes the full Atlantic swell.
Best for
A swim and snorkel in the sheltered windward lagoon
