Canouan Restricted Zones (east side anchoring ban, airport approach)

12° 42.6′ N · 61° 18.9′ W · approximate

The whole windward (east) side of Canouan, behind the long Grand Cois barrier reef, is closed to anchoring and kiteboarding, the north of the island is a gated private estate, and yachts are asked to stay out of the airport approach.

Practical

Coordinate is derived: a point in the windward lagoon behind Grand Cois reef, shown for map placement only. Rules (Noonsite 2025): no anchoring on the east side, including behind the reef; no kiteboarding on the east side; Anse Guyac/Corbay closed. The northern 1,200 acres (Mandarin Oriental/Canouan Estate) are private and you need permission even to walk there. SVG Air strongly urges yachts to keep at least 2 miles (3.2 km) clear of the final approach to Canouan airport, especially at night or in poor visibility; the airport closes at 7 pm and has about 4 SVG Air flights a day plus private jets.
