Summit position from OpenStreetMap. The tourism authority places Mount Royal inside the private Mandarin Oriental/Canouan Estate in the north, which is gated; you need permission to enter, so ask at the estate or go with a resort-arranged guide. The public alternative is the hill walk east from Charlestown to the windward lagoon viewpoints, recommended by Doyle. Carry water and sun protection; the south of the island can be walked in a few hours.
