Owia Salt Pond Reef Pool and Littoral Forest
13° 22.6′ N · 61° 8.4′ W
A sea-fed rock pool at the north-east tip of St Vincent where reef fish and corals live among the volcanic rock, below a protected strip of coastal (littoral) forest in the Kalinago village of Owia.
Practical
Position from OpenStreetMap (same site as the Owia Salt Pond beach entry). The National Parks authority says reef fish and coral formations add colour and life to the pool, and the littoral forest protects the steep slope between the pool and the garden park above, about 217 steps up. Bring a mask: it is a sheltered fish-watching swim with the Atlantic breaking outside. Entry: non-nationals US$5 (National Parks site, undated; verify locally); co-managed by the Owia Salt Pond Management Committee. About 32 miles (1.5 hours) by road from Kingstown; a land trip, not a yacht stop.
Best for
Fish-watching in a rock pool on the wild Atlantic coast
Season
Calmer Atlantic days; dry season for the drive
